What is a PCCC
개인통관고유부호 (personal customs clearance code) is a 13-character code — the letter P followed by 12 digits — that the Korea Customs Service issues to individuals for importing goods. Every parcel shipped to a consumer in Korea needs the recipient's code; without it the parcel is held at customs until the recipient supplies one. Since 2026 new codes are valid for one year, and from February 2026 customs matches the recipient's name, phone number and postal code against the registration. Where Shopify keeps it
Shopify's checkout asks for the code when the shipping address is in Korea and stores it on the order (shown in the order's shipping details). Some third-party checkouts put it in a note attribute instead; the app reads both.
Install
Install from the Shopify App Store listing (https://apps.shopify.com/sl-korea-pccc-guard). The app asks for read access to orders and write access to order tags only.
The check
Open the app → Korea orders. Each unfulfilled order shipped to Korea is listed with its code and a status: OK (P + 12 digits), Missing (no code), Invalid (wrong format) or Business (a 10-digit business registration number — a company import). Under the status the app lists anything else customs will trip over: no phone, a phone that is not a Korean number, no postal code, a postal code that is not 5 digits.
Tags
With the Pro plan the app writes one tag per order — pccc-ok, pccc-missing, pccc-invalid or pccc-business — and replaces it when the status changes. Tag names can be changed in Settings as long as they start with pccc-. Your other tags are never touched.
Customer request email
Settings → Customer email. When on, an order with a missing or invalid code sends the customer one email in Korean and English (or one language) asking for the code and reminding them to use the name, phone and postal code registered with it; reply-to is your store address, so the answer lands in your inbox. If the order is checked again 7 or more days later (Check now, or the new-order check) and still has no valid code, one reminder is sent; nothing after that. You then enter the code on the order in Shopify.
Copy and CSV
Each row has a copy button for the code (paste it into the carrier's label form). Pro: export the listed orders as a CSV with order number, recipient, phone, postal code, address and code.
Plan
Free shows the list and the check. Pro adds tags, the request email and CSV for $7 per 30 days, 7-day free trial, billed on your Shopify invoice. Cancel on the Plan tab; cancelling ends Pro immediately.
Troubleshooting
- An order shipped to Korea is not listed: the list shows unfulfilled orders by default and Shopify gives apps the last 60 days of orders — switch off “Unfulfilled only” or search by order number.
- The code looks right but is marked Invalid: the check accepts P + 12 digits only; look for a letter O instead of zero or a missing digit. Business imports use a 10-digit number and are shown as Business.
- The customer says the code is correct but customs still held the parcel: the app checks the format only. Ask the customer to confirm the code is unexpired and that the name, phone and postal code on the order match the ones registered with customs.
- No email was sent: customer emails are off by default; turn them on in Settings and add a reply-to address. Emails go only for Missing and Invalid, once per order plus one reminder.
